Our Mission

AICC’s mission is to serve minority communities of color with a focus on empowering African immigrants for success and building stronger and healthier African immigrant families and communities. AICC achieves this through direct culturally responsive program delivery aimed at promoting digital equity, community health promotion and education, community violence prevention, mental health promotion, environmental justice, strengthening civic engagement, fostering collaborations and providing technical assistance as well as access to resources.

Objectives

  • Organize activities, events and programs to promote African culture, ethnic pride, health, mental health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with institutions, community and faith-based organizations to design, develop and implement culturally relevant programs to build stronger and healthier African immigrant families and communities.
  • Develop the knowledge base and practical skills to serve as a hub of resources for African immigrant families.
  • Conduct civic engagement activities (e.g., GOTV campaigns and voter education workshops).
  • Promote anti bias, hate and violence in the community.
  • Mobilize support to provide relief in times of need.
  • Bring awareness to African communities, the existing policies that matter to the African immigrant families and communities.
  • Provide culturally responsive training and education.
  • Provide culturally relevant technical assistance to other organizations or institutions.
  • Empower African women and youth for success.
  • Build leadership and supportive network among members, youths and the community at large.
  • Advocate for our shared perspective locally.
  • Contribute to journals for publications on African matters.
  • Engage in any other activities considered under federal and state law to achieve the objectives of the organization.
