Community Health Education & Promotion
At AICC, we are constantly working to inform, educate and empower African community in New York City about health issues to promote and encourage a healthier way of life. Through educational programs that include topics such as, mental illness/behavioral health, Infectious /chronic diseases, and Nutrition/Physical activity, we strive to make considerable impact on the overall health and knowledge within African communities.
We offer customized technical assistance, and culturally sensitive training to improve conditions for learning and programmatic interventions. In addition, we ensure programs value diversity and that activities, procedures, and staffing are aligned to support the highest level of engagement and best outcomes for those who will participate.
For specific questions and customized technical assistance, please contact the Center.
We support and/or collaborate with organizations, institutions, and faith-based organizations to design, develop, implement and evaluate culturally and contextually relevant educational strategies and community-based programs using evidence-informed community collaborative strengthening approach to ensure that programs achieve high impact.

AICC serves as a resource hub to help African immigrants access the resources they need and to encourage participation in programs and services. In addition, AICC serves as an information and referral center for African immigrants to connect to government agencies and community-based organizations to address their concerns, which range from application assistance, guidance on benefits eligibility, immigration to discrimination and social welfare.
We serve as vocal advocates representing the perspectives and needs of immigrant communities at the city, state and federal level for increased resources, services and legislative protections.
